Safari
On Saturday we visited the picturesque Gibbs Farm, hiked to the Elephant Caves and the waterfall, and spent the night (my best night’s sleep so far, in the mountain air) at the Rhino Lodge on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater. Drove into the crater with our guide Shabane early on Sunday and saw an amazing number of animals: zebra, elephant, lions, water buffalo, warthogs (Pumbas but no Timon), stork, flamingo, two kinds of gazelle, and even a distant glimpse of the rare and elusive black rhino. We even saw the aftermath of two lion kills and the lions fighting off the hyenas. Took my picture with a Trinity lion!
