Ed Henegar Visits Trinity
I was standing in the carpool line this morning when I noticed a familiar face walking down the sidewalk. Ed Henegar, former long-time pastor at Blacknall Presbyterian, friend of Trinity, grandfather of three Trinity students (Samuel, Benjamin, and Alex Gould) was heading for the Upper School with his daughter, Becky.
Ed was a guest lecturer for Margaret Thielman's eleventh grade rhetoric class. A master of oral delivery with a resonant voice, he was well equipped for that assignment.
I think Warren Gould, Ed's son-in-law and our Upper School Director, asked Ed on the spur of the moment if he would also lead the US Cornerstone, the opening devotional with which our oldest students begin their days. I followed Ed upstairs, eager to hear what he had to share. It was surely worth it.
He quoted from one of his favorite Christmas songs. Quoted the entire lyrics of Glad's "In the First Light." Here's the song, if you'd like to listen to it. (None of the US students knew the song, so it's a good one to share.) It was a great way to begin my day!
